One Step Closer to Helping Foster Families in South Carolina

Updated: Apr 24, 2023

We have waited for this moment for over a year.

During Labor Day weekend in 2018, we went under contract for the perfect property for Three Rivers Respite.

Six weeks later, our house remained unsold, and we had to back out of the contract.

Fast forward to Labor Day weekend in 2019, Hurricane Dorian was barreling towards the East Coast and we were forced to evacuate inland. We had our third showing for our house a few days before, but we figured any chance at an offer would wait. We were used to that by now … waiting. Yet, as we were driving out of town before the hurricane, we received an offer.

We returned three days later to sign the final contract on the sale of our house. Then we submitted the contract on the exact same property for Three Rivers Respite—and it was accepted! Now we are living in a sea of boxes and chaos as we prepare for a big move for our family, but we are very excited. We can’t wait to see what God will do with Three Rivers Respite, our family, and foster care in South Carolina.

So, what is next for Three Rivers Respite?

Once we get settled in, we will begin the long process of identifying the exact location of the camp on the property, working through the permit processes, building the access road to the location—and a bridge over the wetlands—and construction of the camp facilities.

We need your help. We need to raise money to build the camp facilities and we need prayer—for the property, for children in foster care, for the future of Three Rivers Respite, and for our family as we embark on this journey. Will you pray with us? And would you prayerfully consider becoming a monthly supporter or making a one-time donation (by clicking on the "Donate" tab above)?

Lastly, we will need plenty of volunteers. Click on the "Volunteer" tab and share your information and how you would like to help.

We are excited to share more of our story and this journey as we move forward. Thank you for your support!
