This month's boy's camp was a little different, thanks to the new tent pads and camp area set up by our Eagle Scout friend, Levi, in September. This boy's camp was the first camp in the new camp area and also the first camp where each camper had their own single person tent. Furthermore, it was also the first camp (or rather, first time ever) that this camp counselor (Matt) slept in a hammock. Let's just say that one should always prepare for all types of weather when sleeping in a hammock! Rain with no rain fly does not make for a good night's sleep!
The new camp area was perfect. It felt like a state park campsite! The boys loved it and especially loved having their own tents.
We also had the boys set up their own tents when they arrived, also something new we have never done, but they enjoyed it. We spent most of Friday evening around the campsite, playing tag, playing in the tree house, and sitting around the campfire for s'mores and stories. We enjoyed a pizza dinner provided by the Fort Johnson Baptist Church family. We want to thank the Fort Johnson Baptist Church family for continuing to provide our camp dinners, what a blessing!
Everyone slept great on Friday night with the new setup, with the exception of the aforementioned camp counselor. It turns out that sleeping in a hammock with no rain fly does not make for a dry night, and therefore a good nights sleep, when it rains. At least I had a mosquito net though! Needless to say, I was up and ready to cook breakfast bright and early!
We started the day with a blackstone breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and sausage, then did a morning devotion in the chapel, followed by a quick game of tag before heading the to the local pumpkin patch.

The pumpkin patch was a big hit as we all took took turns with the corn cannon. You hit the target and win a pumpkin, and guess what, we won one! Don't mind the cows in the photo, they were not part of the target, nor were they harmed in this operation.

Then we rode the hayride where we got to feed the cows, and they sure know how to get their food from that wagon! The kids really enjoyed feeding the cows and watching them "attack" the wagon for their snacks!
After the pumpkin patch, we returned to camp for the afternoon. We had lunch - hotdogs cooked over the new firepit, and played some field games and table games to close out camp.

And just like that, our 2025 boy's camps are finished. It was a great year with these boys. We had a lot of repeat campers and got to know the boys really well. One boy who has been to every camp this year mentioned how much he would miss it when he realized that we would not have camp again until the spring.
We will re-cap the full 2025 camp season in one of our upcoming newsletters. Thank you for your continued support in 2025 and we are looking forward to the 2026 boy's camps!
