Camp Season 2023 Recap

We officially close out our 2023 camp season with our final Foster Parent’s Night Out on Saturday, December 2. It has been an amazing season of TRR camps!

We held our second ever, and first Girls overnight tent campout this past weekend. Eight girls camped out, five of which had never camped in a tent before! And they loved it!

These girls loved being outside. They went from full on fun in the dirt chasing chickens, to manicures and face masks under the pavilion.

We did many different walks – trail hike at night with flashlights, then again in the morning with the sun. Multiple walks with the goats and a nice walk down the new road to show them the future campsite location.

The games ranged from bean boozled (a crazy yucky or yummy game with jelly beans) to classic checkers (always a camp favorite).

Of course the fire pit was a hit and the kids enjoyed s’mores and talking around the fire.

It was a sweet time in which friendships were started and memories were made!

This camp season could not have been done without your support. Because of your generous donations and camperships, every child attended camp for free and we were even able to provide Recess with Marea, which was always a big hit!

We were able to host 25 children over eight day camps and two overnight camps and another 40 children through our Foster Parent's Nights Out!

Thank you also to Fort Johnson Baptist Church for providing meals for all of our camps in 2023. What a blessing it was to have delicious meals provided!

As we close out this 2023 camp season, we reflect on all the friendships made, the meals shared, and the activities enjoyed with these kids. We are so grateful for the support of you all for making camp at Three Rivers Respite a reality. All of the kids who came to camp this year had a great time and loved being outside!

We look forward to continuing day camps in 2024 and adding additional overnight tent campouts, providing the TRR camp experience to even more children in the coming year! Keep an eye out for the 2024 camp schedule early next year.
