Boys Camp Re-Cap - April 2026

On April 17-18, we had another action packed boys camp! We had 7 boys at this camp, including two new first-time campers! Fears were overcome and all the boys enjoyed some time camping and playing in the woods.

We kicked off camp, as usual, with an ice breaker, octoball, some basketball, an amazing dinner from our friends at Fort Johnson Baptist, and an evening scavenger hunt. The boys loved the scavenger hunt, with one asking to do this every camp!

Unfortunately, once we freed our s'more materials, due to a statewide burn ban, we had to bake them in the oven, which was actually not that bad, it just makes for much messier s'mores. Either way, the boys ate them and enjoyed the s'mores regardless!

It took the boys some time to settle in to their tents, but after a restful nights sleep, we woke up to a beautiful, cool morning. We ate the traditional camp breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes) at the pavilion and got a few games in before heading to the chapel for our morning devotion.

During devotions, we spent some time reading and talking about Psalm 103, discussing God's love for us and His creation. After devotions, we walked the trails before heading back to the Pavilion.

We spent the rest of the morning fishing, riding bikes, and playing more games (octoball, basketball, checkers) until lunch time. Unfortunately, we did not catch any fish, but it was a beautiful day to sit by the pond and enjoy the sunshine.

After lunch, the boys were very much ready to get in the pool. We spent the afternoon splashing in what I would consider very cold water, but it did not bother the boys at all and it was quite hot out, so it did feel refreshing.

We closed out camp sharing stories of our favorite activities and our highs and lows from the weekend. The boys spent their final moments riding bikes and hanging in the pavilion hammock swings.

All-in-all, it was another great camp weekend. It is awesome to see the boys bond during the weekend. The returning campers always welcome the new campers and enjoy showing them around. We love to see first-time campers overcome fears of sleeping outside and in a tent, and expressing how much fun they had when they leave.

This was a great group of campers. And of course, we are forever grateful for our volunteers, Alex and Adrian, for pouring into these boys and hanging out with us.

We have one more boys camp this spring in May and we can't wait for another fun-filled and action packed weekend!
