September Boy's Camp Re-Cap

We have officially entered the fall camp season, however, our first fall camp for the boys did not feel like fall at all! Despite the heat, we powered through and had a great weekend.

This was also our first Saturday into Sunday camp. The boys arrived at 10am on Saturday morning. Upon arrival, we did our typical ice breaker and overview of the plans for the weekend. Then we set up our tents and jumped right into games.

There were lots of games of octoball and soccer, lots of catching grasshoppers for fishing bait, lots of fishing, and of course, swimming!

We took a trip to the Aquapark on Saturday afternoon, which was a nice reprieve from the heat. The boys loved playing on the floating course and invented new games to play on the water.

After the Aquapark, we returned to camp for some fishing and swimming. We split up the group, with half of us fishing and the other half playing in the pool. We did catch a couple of fish and both groups had a lot of fun.

Then we had some dinner and played soccer, checkers, and started a fire in the firepit. The fire, oddly enough, was not that much of a hit. Maybe because it was 90 degrees outside, but regardless, the boys all made s'mores...of course!

Once we cleaned up our s'mores mess, we enjoy a sunset swim in the pool to cool off before bed time.

The boys all slept great in their tents despite the heat and were up bright and early on Sunday morning. After our traditional camp breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and sausage, we did a Sunday morning devotion time and took a walk.

We then played more games, fished, and swam until lunch time. After lunch, we packed up our tents and sleeping bags and closed our camp with more octoball and soccer before closing out with our highs and lows.

This was a great group of boys and we had a great weekend. We are so excited to be in our fall camp season, and I know one camp counselor (Matt) who is deperately hoping for better camping weather for the October boys camp!
